If you wish to transfer a domain name from one domain name registrar to another, you will need to pass through a couple of security steps. One of them is obtaining a special EPP authorization code from the current registrar company – on the condition that you are the registrant, since the code is sent to the domain owner’s email and no one else can get it. You’ll need to provide this code to the new domain registrar, or else they will not be able to start the domain transfer process. The EPP authorization codes are case-sensitive and may comprise of digits or special symbols such as dots or commas, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy & paste the right code. As an extra security measure, the transfer code for a domain name may be changed regularly. Certain domain name registrars call this code a domain password, an Auth key or a domain secret as well.
